Today the election campaign got underway as Gordon Brown finally called the General Election for Thursday 6th May. This election is a chance for real change for Britain – not change for change’s sake but real change that works for you. The Liberal Democrat Leader Nick Clegg led the strong start to the campaign by stating this is not a two horse race between Labour and Conservatives but an opportunity for voters to vote for change. Only the Liberal Democrats can deliver that change.
Katy has been working non stop in Glasgow North for the past few years, and will be working even harder in the next few weeks to show how Lib Dem proposals will make Britain fairer. That means more funding for schools and scrapping tuition fees to give every child a fair start in life. It means raising the income tax threshold which would take the lowest earners out of tax and save most people £700. And it means cleaning up politics in Westminster.
The message we’ve heard time and again on the doorstep is that people feel let down by Labour on so many issues – now it’s time for change. Britain is ready for change as outlined by the Scottish Liberal Democrats ‘Four steps to a fairer Britain’.
