Katy Submits Reports on Kelvindale and Hyndland PO Closures to Post Office Ltd

Today Katy sent in her reports on the 2 post offices in Glasgow North that the local Lib Dem team have been fighting to save. Buoyed up by well over 700 responses to her campaign against Kelvindale’s closure, plus the support from the Community Council, the enthusiasm of the Post Office staff and fellow Liberal Democrat elected representatives at all levels, Katy said: “If strength of local feeling and the logic of our arguments count for anything, the case against closure is incredibly strong.”

The Hyndland campaign involved discussion with the owners, RS McColl, hundreds of fliers issued, numerous letters and petition signatures from local residents. As Katy said ” Again, a strong case can be made for this post office being at the heart of the local community. Closure could damage trade at the neighbouring shops. With the Crow Road PO also closing, residents are faced with trek to Dunbarton Road, where the main alternative is an already busy branch, or an even longer journey to Great Western Road.”
