Shameful Secrecy Vote by Glasgow Labour MPs

A vote by Labour and Conservative MPs to exempt themselves from Freedom of Information laws has been attacked by local Lib Dems. Katy Gordon said:

“Freedom of Information laws allow the press and public to know the travel expenses claimed by public offcials. This is something we welcome. But the attempt, backed by 3 Glasgow Labour MPs, John Robertson, David Marshall and Tom Harris, to stop the same rules applying to themselves shows an appalling approach of one rule for MPs and another for the rest of us. Thanks to the Lib Dems, this sneaky attempt to escape scrutiny has been blocked by the House of Lords.”
