Charles Enthralls GU Students
Katy welcomed Charles Kennedy to both the Glasgow University Union and Queen Margaret Union today. At the GUU, he met several students informally and toured the scene of his former triumphs as a member of the Dialectic Society and Past President.
He then spoke to a packed main hall at the QM and answered questions for over an hour. You could have heard a pin drop as he was speaking and students cheered as he dealt with questions over Scottish independence and a referendum. Both Charles and Katy spoke about the Lib Dems key environmental pledges and highlighted what the party in Scotland has both done already for students and will do in future, namely funding the Universities Scotland demand for £168 million a year to maintain university funding and and scrapping the Graduate Endowment.
