Lib Dems Advance Confirmed by Times Poll

Times Frontpage - SNP Stall as Lib Dems Advance

The Populus poll for the Times newspaper today shows a big advance in support for the Liberal Democrats, while the SNP is faltering. Support is up 4% for for the Lib Dems, while evidence grows that Scots are turning their backs on independence, with only 22% backing the break-up of Britain. The headline article says: “”only the Lib Dems can claim real comfort from our poll,” and that it demonstrates “a significant upswing of support for the Liberal Democrats”.

Katy was pleased to see the polls are finally starting to reflect what she is being told by voters in Glasgow Kelvin: they are fed up with Labour but do not support independence. She commented:

“Not a single voter has raised independence with me as a major issue on the doorstep, but many people have told me they are not happy with Labour. Now the campaign proper is in full swing, residents are having a look at our positive policies on young people (from toddlers to students), on education and on the environment and they like what they see.

Older residents remember when Roy Jenkins was the Liberal MP for Hillhead and this election offers them a real chance to take back Kelvin from Labour.”
