Travel Scheme for Young People

A new travel scheme for young people has been announced by Liberal Democrat Transport Minister Tavish Scott MSP. This scheme gives 16-18 year olds, and full time volunteers up to the age of 25, a third off bus and rail journeys.Katy was out in University Avenue this week raising awareness of the new scheme.

Katy commented:

” This is another important scheme to encourage Scots to use public transport in place of the car. If people experience the benefits of public transport from an early age, there is more chance they will retain these lessons later in life. This travel scheme will make a big difference to Hillhead and Hyndland young people, saving them money in getting to work, school or to social activities. We have already made it easier for older people to access public transport, with the highly popular concessions for trains and buses for retired people. Now we want to capture the imagination of our young people in the same way.”
